Kamehameha Schools has a Manager position available at Kawaiahao Plaza on O'ahu.

Education:

Masters Degree in Educational technology, Curriculum & Instructional, Communications, Distance Learning or closely related field.

In lieu of a Masters, a Bachelors with seven or more years of directly related experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.


Minimum Requirements:

• More than 5 years related work experience to include working in a distance learning setting and at least three years of administrative, supervisory and/or curriculum development project management experience.
• Demonstrated competence in Windows and Mac operating systems and core MS Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint) and Adobe Creative Suite applications (Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat).
• Experience in managing instructional (including distance learning) curriculum development projects which include developing timelines, budgets and contracts.
• Supervisory experience with competencies in mentoring, coaching and training numerous educational staff.
• Extensive experience in instructional design, training, designing and developing culturally appropriate materials for a variety of age groups with diverse learning and teaching styles.
• Extensive experience in developing interactive multimedia online curriculum via learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, Pearson, Sakai, etc.) using appropriate tools for student learning.
• Experience in managing cross-functional creative specialists (e.g. instructional designers, multimedia developers, graphic designers and learning resource specialists).
• Experience in the development and administration of Web sites.
• Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced, technology environment and adapt quickly and efficiently to change, as well as to implement change.
• Demonstrated project management experience for high risk projects.
• Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate and work effectively with various levels within and outside of KS (e.g. administrators, staff, faculty, community collaborators and online learners) with a high degree of cultural sensitivity.
• Demonstrated and/or skill in organizational competencies of accountability, change effectiveness, collaboration and teamwork, communication, Hawaiian cultural commitment and innovation to develop and manage a diverse work team and collaborations.
• Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take appropriate initiative, manage multiple tasks, establish work priorities, and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
• Solid problem-solving skills and results oriented to identify and resolve existing or potential problems.
• Extensive background in teaching various age groups with diverse learning styles, distance learning, instructional design including online and Web-based environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Involvement in distance learning, on-line delivery or other P-20 educational professional activities at the state or national level.
• Has been recognized as an outstanding educator and proven ability to manage and support staff successfully using a wide range of instructional strategies necessary to meet diverse age groups and learning styles.
• Understanding and proficiency with Hawaiian culture, language, history and cultural practices and the integration into products and services.
• Knowledge of KS' mission and existing programs and services.


Duties:

• Operational Management: Plans, manages, and oversees the daily operations of the Instructional Development Support Department (within the Instructional Services Division) for KS-wide support and consultation in instructional development support (learning resource, curriculum, multimedia, graphics, hybrid and online learning) to include, but not limited to: Overseeing and supervising the planning, execution, and control and reporting of all instructional development support projects within the constraints of scope, cost, quality, time and stakeholder expectations. This includes ensuring high quality service and response to KS staff and learner needs.
• Facilitating the development of a shared vision for instructional services at KS through collaboration with KS leadership, administration and faculty.
• Supervising full and part-time direct reports and providing counseling, guidance and regular work performance feedback.
• Planning and overseeing training and support for departmental staff in alignment with national standards and researched best practices and ensure long-range planning for professional development.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and modeling of best practices and emerging trends to KS staff relevant to distance learning.
• Managing the ISC-Development Support budget and assisting the Director with the Division budget.
• Insuring the effective execution of all cross-functional creative work team processes and procedures.
• Insuring KS client and distance learning programs' learner satisfaction
• Serving on KS-wide committees and task forces as assigned/or requested.
• Keeping abreast of the rapidly changing field of emerging technologies and distance learning for continual improvement and to position ISC on the leading edge in the delivery of instructional resources and curriculum.
• Planning and Strategy: Leads the planning, implementing, and evaluation for operational and strategic planning ensuring alignment of the Instructional Development Support Department to the goals and objectives of the Instructional Services Center (ISC) Division, Administration Group and KS mission. Duties to include, but not limited to: Facilitating annual departmental operational planning and quarterly review sessions. Assisting in implementing KS-wide needs assessment and research activities that leads to the establishment of benchmarks and best practices for hybrid and online learning.
• Project Management: Responsibilities include but not limited to leading the planning, execution, control and reporting of moderate to high risk projects or multiple low risk projects within the constraints of scope, cost, quality, time and stakeholder expectations.
