Kamehameha Schools has a Manager, Distance Learning position available with the Instructional Services Center Division (ISC) at Kapālama Campus, O‘ahu.

Education:

Master's Degree in Educational technology, Curriculum & Instructional, Communications, Distance Learning or closely related field.

In lieu of a Master's, a Bachelor's Degree with seven or more years of directly related experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of related work experience to include working in a distance learning setting and at least 3 years of administrative, supervisory and/or program management experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in Windows and Mac operating systems and core MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • Experience in managing distance learning programs and projects which include developing timelines, budgets and contracts.
  • Supervisory experience with competencies in mentoring, coaching and training numerous educational staff.
  • Extensive experience teaching, designing and developing culturally appropriate materials for a variety of age groups with diverse learning and teaching styles.
  • Extensive experience in teaching and developing courses online via learning management systems using appropriate tools for student learning.
  • Experience in the development and administration of Web sites.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced, technology environment and adapt quickly and efficiently to change, as well as to implement change.
  • Demonstrated project management experience for high risk projects.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate and work effectively with various levels within and outside of KS with a high degree of cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated and/or skill in organizational competencies of accountability, change effectiveness, collaboration and teamwork, communication, Hawaiian cultural commitment and innovation to develop and manage a diverse work team and collaborations.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take appropriate initiative, manage multiple tasks, establish work priorities, and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and results oriented to identify and resolve existing or potential problems.


Summary of Duties:

  • Plans, manages, and oversees the daily operations of the Distance Learning Department (within the ISC Division) for successful delivery and implementation of high quality distance learning programs.
  • Facilitates the development of a shared vision for distance learning programs at KS through collaboration with KS leadership, administration and faculty.
  • Supervises full and part-time direct reports and providing counseling, guidance and regular work performance feedback.
  • Leads the planning, implementing, and evaluation for operational and strategic planning ensuring alignment of the Distance Learning Department to the goals and objectives of the ISC Division, Administration Group and KS mission.
  • Managing the distance learning programs budget and assisting the Director with the Division budget.
  • Ensures high quality customer service and response to learner needs within the constraints of scope, cost, quality, time and stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide support and consultation in hybrid and online learning and distance learning as needed.
