Junior Systems Administrator / Release Engineer

We are seeking a curious, intelligent, fast learner to join an entrepreneurial web applications development team in downtown Honolulu. 

We are looking for a dedicated junior System Administrator/ Release Engineer with operations experience in networking, Linux server administration, system backup management and application deployment. The applicant must have strong motivation to continually improve his/her knowledge and skills. 

Duties: 

System Administration (50%) 

- System backup management. 
- Manage web application firewall. 
- Manage web log processing system. 
- Basic support for windows and Mac desktops. 
- Assist senior system administrator in maintaining Linux based servers and network. 

Application Deployment (50%) 

- Work with development staff to deploy applications to test servers. 
- Deploy all production services using existing documented procedures. 

Required Skills: 

- 2 years hands-on network/Linux server configuration and troubleshooting experience. 
- Entry level Linux usage: Usage and administration familiarity. Comfortable working with Linux (CentOS, SuSe, OpenBSD) on servers is a plus. 
- CVS: Expertise in using and managing CVS. Understand appropriate branching strategies and manage the creation of builds for release. 
- Windows/Mac desktop/laptop support. 

Desired Skills: 

- Apache log management web reporting tools 
- Experience of scripting to automate procedures 
- Exposure to open source tools 
- Amanda backup 
- Experience of participating in PCI/SOX and other system security audit 
- MySQL and Oracle administration 
- CMS System Administration (Alfresco, Liferay, Joomla, etc..)
