Kamehameha Schools has a Help Desk Specialist position available at Kawaiaha‘o Plaza, O‘ahu. The deadline to apply: 10/11/2012.

Education:

Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.

Summary of Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of trouble-shooting experience in the area of technology; microcomputers, telecommunications, and other related technology.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to respond to problems effectively and efficiently while under time pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Must have strong telephone and customer service skills in order to deal with users with varying levels of knowledge in technology.
  • Person must be reliable and committed to spending long periods of time on the phone to resolve and coordinate resolutions for users.
  • Good working knowledge of networking terminology; local and wise area networks; and related data communications hardware and software terminology and concepts.
  • Good working knowledge of standard AV equipment.


Summary of Duties:

  • Provides first line response to all Kamehameha Schools users with technology related problems and requests.
  • Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions to users in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to handle multiple tasks and high phone call volume (e.g. 50-80 calls per day).
  • Problems range from basic microcomputer and standard software questions to complex diagnostics of system problems.
  • Helps resolve problems as necessary and appropriate.
  • Designs and develops Help Desk reports for IT management and staff using report writers, coordinates service and trouble calls with vendors and internal staff, and tracks and monitors daily trouble calls.
  • Responsible for analysis, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of a help desk system that enhances operational and administrative effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Coordinates and provides user training on hardware and software in order to maximize on the user's productivity in the workplace.
  • Performs and participates in research and testing of new hardware and software technology and applications.
