Kamehameha Schools has a temporary GIS Assistant position available at Kawaiaha'o Plaza, O'ahu. Deadline to apply: 9/28/2012.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree

Positions Requirements:

• One to two years of related work experience.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Access.
• Good working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software (versions 9.3, 10.0 or 10.1)
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Must have a focus on teamwork.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and coordinate.
• Ability to problem solve and complete short and long term goals.
• Willingness and ability to update technological skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Database training or experience
• Experience in the use of GPS equipment and processing of data.
• Knowledge of Hawaiian land history and geography, language and culture necessary to interpret historical records and maps.
• Working knowledge of KS Endowment operations, processes and policies.

Duties:

• Assists the Land Information Management and Services ("LIMS") Team with the planning, analysis, and development required for Kamehameha School's use of Geographic Information System (GIS).
• Works closely with LIMS team to evaluate and analyze GIS requirements, designs and develops solutions and procedures which address those requirements; these include development of maps, data, models, applications and systems.
• Assists with the management of information in the GIS. Loads, converts and processes map data from external contractors, ensuring proper data quality and building topology and coverage; ensuring attribute data is entered properly and on schedule.
