Kamehameha Schools has a Digital Media Specialist position available at Kawaiaha'o Plaza, O'ahu.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Design, New Media Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, Communications, or related field.

In lieu of college degree, high school diploma/equivalent and 8-9 years experience as a proven New Media, Visual or Interactive Designer.

Summary of Minimum Requirements:

  • More than 5 years of related work experience.
  • In lieu of college degree, high school diploma/equivalent and 8-9 years experience as a proven New Media, Visual or Interactive Designer.
  • Expertise in core Adobe Creative Suite applications, Windows and Mac operating systems and core Microsoft Office applications.
  • Expertise in using HTML, CSS and DHTML, proficiency in modifying JavaScript and php code
  • Knowledge of CMS, cross-platform compatibility, usability, UX methodology and techniques, mobile design, video content management systems (uploading, tagging and organizing video), video integration (customizing and embedding video players)
  • Experience with illustration, texture design and typography design
  • Proven content strategy skills
  • Ability to present complex information in visually compelling designs that are easy to understand
  • Ability to provide training and direction regarding the use of content management systems and technologies to general users
  • Self-driven routines to stay current on technologies related to digital design, UX and content strategy

Summary of Duties:

  • Conceptualizes and executes new and innovative ways to tell the Kamehameha Schools story and engage our audiences by integrating compelling design, efficient coding techniques and persuasive content strategy, applied across multiple digital media, including platforms for Web, mobile, email, social media and video.
  • Consults directly with CRC staff, on project teams and with other KS clients throughout the organization, on new and ongoing projects, with a focus on determining most effective strategy for design, messaging and content and delivering powerful digital experiences to meet desired outcomes.
  • Continually develops the visual aspects of KS Web brand presence, including graphic standards and design prototypes, in alignment with KS' Hawaiian Elegance design framework.
  • Leads the work on designing and building CMS templates.
