Title: Fresh Water from Thin Air

One can use a source of cold temperature, for instance cold seawater, to extract fresh water from the atmosphere.  The cold can also be used to grow plant species that would not otherwise thrive in Kona's climate.  Rich Bailey has been involved in "ColdAG" since its inception at NELHA with Drs. John Craven and Jack Davidson.  He formed DewPoint Systems in 2010 to commercialize thermal energy agriculture and freshwater generation technologies.  He will discuss the historical context and a patented fresh water generation design, and the future outlook of the technologies.

Rich Bailey received degrees in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and Ventura College.  He is co-inventor of the cold agriculture method of regulating plant growth.  In addition, he has experience in offshore oil well testing, and as an agriculture extension agent.  He is owner of DewPoint Systems and Ponds & Pools Hawaii, LLC.

This pau hana is BYOB/potluck, so please bring a pupu and non-alcoholic beverage to share.  Reusable plates and cups are encouraged, as is taking home your own trash.
