NELHA has been monitoring its equipment using a variety of disparate systems. Over the past year or so, it has been upgrading to a comprehensive data acquisition system. It is now possible to get real-time data on pumping stations and their power usage, which will allow them to improve pumping efficiencies and reduce operational costs. Data from a state-of-the-art meteorological station and renewable energy projects can be correlated. Laurence Sombardier and Keith Olson will describe the system and how the resulting data and analyses can benefit both NELHA, its tenants, and potentially the public.
Laurence Sombardier is currently NELHA’s Chief Marketing Officer, with responsibilities of marketing, leasing, and other business development activities. She has BS and MS degrees in physical oceanography from Florida Institute of Technology and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, respectively. Prior to joining NELHA, she managed an international Surface Ocean Velocity monitoring program at Scripps, and was Vice President and General Manager of Mera Pharmaceutical Inc.'s Kona facility.
Keith Olson is NELHA's Water Quality Laboratory Manager. He has a chemical engineering degree from the State University of New York's College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry. Before joining NELHA, he worked at Chevron and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where he worked on environmental remediation technologies.
