Most of the world's web servers run on some form of Unix, and knowing how to use Unix is an essential skill for any web developer. Mac OSX is built atop Unix making Unix more accessible to learn and use than ever before. Learn to use the terminal, navigate the filesystem, manipulate files, manage processes, and administrate users and security.
Katharine Osborne has 15 years experience with web development in a Unix environment. She is the author of Data and Text Processing for Business Intelligence from Research Publishers. She has been teaching database design online since 2003 and is currently an editor at computer book publisher Manning Publications. She officially became a Mac user in 2007 and never looked back.
