Gene Shofner's company, Creative Edge Hawaii, focuses on presentation and leadership skills training. Formerly the director of academic affairs/senior director of the University of Phoenix Hawaii Campus, he currently is a lead faculty member teaching film studies, public speaking, and humanities courses. He was the managing director of Kumu Kahua Theatre for over 10 years.
