This event is a pau hana for people involved or interested in technology in the greater Kona area and beyond. BYOB and BYO pupus (in other words, potluck). Come network with other techies and maybe learn something.
Presentation:
Mark Sirota is the Telescope Controls Group Leader for the Thirty Meter Telescope Project. Mr. Sirota is responsible for the design, delivery and integration of many of the high performance control systems located on the telescope. Prior to joining the Thirty Meter Telescope Project in 2005, Mr. Sirota spent 14 years as a Senior Manager at the W. M. Keck Telescope and was involved from design through operations. Mr. Sirota will present an overview of the Thirty Meter Telescope with emphasis on the strategy and challenges of turning the 492 segments into the equivalent of a 30 meter monolithic mirror.
