Presenter: Dean Towle, Keahole Solar Power
Topic: Make Electricity and Beer: Various applications of solar thermal collectors and cold ocean water.
Keahole Solar Power operates a 2MW (thermal) 0.5MW (electrical) solar thermal power plant at NELHA. In addition to using the heat to make electricity, plant operator Dean Towle has brewed a batch or two of beer. We will tour the facility to see the new Calnetix generator and the MAGE desalinator. Dean will discuss future plans for the site.
BYOB and a pupu to share. We have heard that there may be some solar beer to sample. We will have a BBQ set up, and I am bringing veggie burgers, ketchup, and extra buns. BYOM. If someone would like to bring hot dogs, please let me know.
We want this to be a zero-waste event. Please plan to take back your trash and bring reusable materials rather than disposable ones.
