Planning for Commercialization Success

A must for SBIR Companies!

The Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation place great emphasis on the successful commercialization of technologies funded through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. This workshop will help increase your ability to successfully commercialize your SBIR/ STTR funded technologies as you move from Phase I to Phase II, and finally to Phase III. Each agency will ask you to articulate your commercialization plans in greater detail as they increase the amount of funding that they provide for your technology development. Understanding the commercialization plan requirements of each agency and how to address them is therefore vital to your success.

Split into two half day workshops, Day 1 will focus on the Department of Energy requirements. As DOE will be releasing its solicitation on Monday, July 20th – some time will also be spent on helping you understand how to prepare a responsive proposal for the Department of Energy. Day 2 will focus on the commercialization requirements of the National Science Foundation.

All workshop participants will receive a copy of Business Planning for Scientists and Engineers, a reference that will be used to help you understand basic elements of strategic planning, market sizing, competitor analysis, financial projections, and commercialization strategy development.

Dr. Jenny Servo, the workshop leader is the President of Dawnbreaker. The company has worked with the Department of Energy for over twenty years and provides Phase 0, Phase I, and Phase II Commercialization Assistance Programs for the DOE.
