Event Description

As technology progresses and changes so does the aspect of visual news-gathering Agencies now want both stills and video and expect photographers to understand the concepts of editing photos quickly and then transition to editing the video package. Discussion covers the new trend of still cameras shooting video; capturing sound in the field to create multi-media packages that incorporate audio, stills, and video; and a look at the special skills needed in underwater work such as for the Ironman Triathlon.

Hugh Gentry is a freelance photojournalist and videographer working as a stringer for Reuters and the Associated Press as well as the major television networks. He started his career as a TV news cameraman and in 2003 transitioned into digital photography. By combining both skills, he can deliver multiple content formats to a diverse range of clients. He specializes in shooting underwater, surfing, and adventure sports.
