Our next luncheon program August 25, 2011 - News media in a free society, what has it become?

The news delivery business models are changing.  This meeting will tell you what you need to know to profit from these changes if you are an entrepreneur or investor and what to expect if you are just into the news.  Join us as we revisit this topic

Calendar Thursday, August 25th for the HVCA-ThinkTech two-panel luncheon program at the Plaza Club called "NewsMorphosis Redux," dealing with changes in our local media since the Honolulu Advertiser and Star-Bulletin closed down a year ago and Civil Beat began operations..

Join us for a two panel extravaganza about the changing face of news in America.

The first panel, moderated by Steve Petranik, will address whether the reporting and commentary by Hawaii's news media is properly reaching and informing the public, and will feature Chris Conybeare of the Hawaii Media Council, Jim Dooley of Hawaii Reporter, Barbara Tanabe of Hoakea Communications, Kyle Tanouye of Talisman LBS, and Lucy Young-Oda of the Star-Advertiser.

The second panel, moderated by David Tumilowicz, will address how changes in consumer preferences, technology and costs will transform the news media over the coming years, and will feature Kevin Bumgarner of Pacific Business News, Rick Blangiardi of Hawaii News Now, Jeff Coelho of Salem Communications, John Temple of Civil Beat and Leslie Wilcox of PBS.

Save the date and be sure to come.  Better yet, register now since space will be limited, at hvca.org or thinktechhawaii.com.

This program is being sponsored by Hawaii Business Magazine and Pacific New Media of the University of Hawaii.

Register Now!  The program starts at 11:30AM and lasts until 1:30PM at the Plaza Club, 20th Floor.  Member and affiliate rate is $29, non-members $39. Sign up now at http://www.hvca.org

If you have any questions about the program or about registration, contact Gail Caveney at 262-7329 or windcon@hawaii.rr.com.

We appreciate your interest and support and look forward to seeing you at NewsMorphosis Redux at the Plaza Club on August 25th.  Aloha business attire is kindly requested by the Plaza Club management.
