Event Description

On March 28th, HVCA and ThinkTech will present a luncheon panel program entitled “Fiscal Policy in the 2013 session – how can we afford our most critical programs and initiatives.”

Our opening speaker will be Kalbert Young, State Budget and Finance Director. Our panel will include David Ige, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee; Richard Lim, Director of DBEDT; Josh Green, Chair of the Senate Health Committee; Tom Apple, Chancellor of UH Manoa; and some others to be announced.

Bob Toyofuku of Hawaii Advocates will moderate this amazing panel to examine our current spending priorities and the state’s way of covering them – will it be by taxes or austerity? Shades of sequestration!

Come down and learn what’s going on in the heart of the session, and get a handle on the fiscal issues and prospects for our current spending programs and initiatives. Nothing could be more important to define the session and the future of our state.

Register to attend at HVCA.ORG or call Gail at 382-4638. Notice our new pricing policy: Members, affiliates (including faculty and government) attend at the member rate of $29 with pre-registration, $35 dollars if you pay at the door. Students are $20, all others are $39 with pre-registration, $45 if you pay at the door. Space is limited, so sign up early. Parking is available at the Pioneer Plaza building and at Harbor Court, but we do not validate.

This luncheon program begins at 11:30AM March 28, 2013, at the Plaza Club, 900 Fort Street Mall, 20th Floor.
