Event Description

Love Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, TechHui and Manoa Geeks? Do you think "social media" can be harnessed to bring "social change"? Then I heartily invite you to join other like-minded folks next week at the Honolulu Twestival, taking place at Oceans 808 at Restaurant Row from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.

It's way more than a meetup or Tweetup. It's a fantastic pau hana party with great music, pupus, drinks, and great people at a great venue... all for a good cause.

I’m part of the volunteer organizing committee for the Honolulu Twestival, which will raise money for charity: water, an international non-profit bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Honolulu is joining more than 175 international cities in hosting a Twestival to bring social networking communities together in an effort to raise money for this great cause. Our pau hana-style event will feature great food, drinks, raffle, and a lineup of live Hawaii entertainment, including Guy Cruz, Anuhea Jenkins, Mailani Makainai, Jama Hang, and Sunset.

Tickets are just $20 per person pre-sale online and $25 at the door that night, and includes pupu buffet, two (2) drinks, and great entertainment. Oceans will also be offering $3 drink specials throughout the night. And 100 percent of the ticket sales go directly to charity: water. Please note that this event is only open to those 21 and older.

We all know how social networking services can bring us together to brainstorm or have fun, but it's clear these tools and resources have the power to do much more.

Right now, 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six people. Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it. This is where charity: water and its partner organizations come in. By purchasing a $20 ticket and joining us next week Thursday, you can give one person clean and safe drinking water for 20 years.

Mahalo in advance for your support and I hope to see you next Thursday at Oceans 808!
