I've been keeping an eye out for an Oahu LUG for some time. Looking forward to checking this out.

As this is the first LUG meeting being put together by Jerome and others, anyone interested in creating a great Linux Users' Group should definitely come out to this meeting. We need your brainstorming input to make HLUG an inviting, interesting, and rewarding place to exchange ideas.

A LUG in Hawaii is long overdue for a revival. It's one of the few venues where you could ask your toughest Linux Questions, get straight answers and ideas from a wider pool of Linux Talent, and learn something new about this Operating System we all know and love.

So, while "Fedora Linux" is the Discussion Topic of this meeting, I expect many of us will also be spending time brainstorming on future ideas about how to make this LUG as great as it can be.

Just a thought - Maybe it'd be better to change the title of this event to "Linux Users' Group" to more accurately reflect that this is a LUG startup meeting, and not just a Fedora discussion?

I'll post a more detailed agenda of this session over the weekend, but I'm hoping to cover:

  • Fedora Installation
  • Yum Package Manager
  • LAMP Stacks on Fedora
  • Eclipse Editor on Fedora
  • Passwordless Remote Access via Secure Shell (ssh)

I'm leveraging these presentations to help build up a new base of Ruby/Rails and Python/Django enthusiasts in Hawaii, with Fedora Linux as a common platform we can use as a starting point.

Yes, the event is free. I was originally looking for LUG on Oahu, but no one knew of one that met regularly anymore. So we decided to start our own with a lot of help from Laurence and Mika.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me via email or through techhui.
