HAWAII ANGELS OFFER ENTREPRENEURS WORDS OF WISDOM

A panel of some of Hawaii’s most experienced Angel investors will be the guests of the Hawaii Venture Capital Association at its February 26, 2009 luncheon meeting at the Plaza Club. This is a must attend event for entrepreneurs and management teams of start-up companies seeking early stage financing. Angel investors nationwide have put more money into early stage companies than professional venture capital firms. They are virtually the only source of start-up capital for new companies and offer entrepreneurs a strong partnership when it comes to winding your way through the venture finance continuum.

The Hawaii Angels, was founded by Rob Robinson in February 2002 and is in its seventh year. As a group the Hawaii Angels have invested in more than 40 companies all of which are still in business. Its track record is one of the best in the country according to the National Angel Capital Association.

Hawaii Angels is the state’s only network of experienced qualified investors with chapters on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. The group now has 100 plus members who hold monthly meetings where entrepreneurs get a chance to pitch their business plans.

HVCA has invited Hawaii Angels founder Rob Robinson and angels Steven Baker and Shan Steinmark to share their wisdom about angel investing, what entrepreneurs need to know to attract an angel investor, do’s and dont's as well as other important topics such as Act 221, investor relations, company structure, and other things that angels look for in a good early stage investment.

Attendees will learn how to get in front of the Angels, what makes a good pitch and other important tips. “This may be one of our most important meetings this year,” said Bill Spencer, HVCA President. “Angel investors are typically very private so we are lucky that these knowledgeable investors are sharing their experience with us,” he said. “So don’t miss this important event.
