You may not realize it, but you benefit from the use of geographic information system (GIS) software every day. All over the world, organizations are using GIS to manage the environment, work more efficiently, provide better customer service, and save money. GIS is becoming an integral part of many organizations technology infrastructure.
This course uses Web-based materials and in-class exercises to introduce the fundamental concepts of GIS and the major functionality contained in ArcGIS software from ESRI. It also covers how to download GIS data from the City and County of Honolulu and the State of Hawai‘i and how to combine that data with your own GIS data. As you progress through the course, you’ll acquire practical skills that you can apply immediately. By the end of the course, you should feel comfortable working with ArcGIS 10 software on your own.
