Event Description

For all you fit and want-to-be-fit nerds and geeks, please join us on our next Nerd Hike! We will be going to Mariner's Ridge.

http://www.lotsafunmaps.com/Oahu/Mariners_Ridge_Hike.html#gallery

The hike starts from Hawaii Kai (directions are in the link above). It is not has difficult as our previous hike, but nonetheless a good work out.

In addition there are a number of Geocaches (http://www.geocaching.com) on the hike and we will be looking for them.

Join us no matter your age or shape! (Children encouraged, I'll be bringing my daughter.)

Meet at the trail head at 10AM. Good weather only. It's not that much fun in the rain. Bring lots of water and a lunch. Great views at the top.

Ken

Hey just curious will someone be posting a go/no-go decision on this hike on Saturday morning or are we all playing it by ear :)

I have certainly smelled some funny stuff burning on certain hikes around here, and it wasn't cigars!

If someone's bringing beer I'll bring some scotch. Maybe a cigar, too. Heck I might just bring a folding chair and wait for you guys at the trailhead sipping scotch and smoking a stogie!

Dale, thanks for that bit, i knew the 5th was tough, but didn't get that it was on the next peak over. Hope to see you there!

Done the hike before to look for the caches. Got a company picnic on Saturday so I might be able to attend depending on how that works out.

There are technically 4 caches on this ridge that are pretty easy to find. The 5th one a little west of the "Ancient Mariner" cache is actually located on the next peak over. The only way to get to it would be to cross over from the peak of Mariner's Ridge long the summit trail, which is pretty intense if you've never done it before :)

No rest until we do! I think there are 5 on this trail, so we'll have a good shot at it. Bring something to leave in the caches so you can take something from them.

I hope we find the cache this time!
