Ever wondered why computers don't seem to be able to think like humans? Take artificial intelligence this Spring and learn about Deep Blue, the computer that beat Chess Grand Master Garry Kasparov; the chatbot Suzette that fooled a human into thinking it was human at this year's Loebner prize Turing test competition; Stanley the modified Volkswagen Touareg that drove unaided over a 132 mile course through the Mojave desert; and iRobot's Roomba vacuum cleaner that now autonomously cleans the floors of over 2 million homes. As well as grappling with the philosophical issues of how to test for intelligence and how to create it, and whether any of the former have achieved it, you'll learn practical algorithms and techniques of Artificial Intelligence so that you can use them effectively in your programs, web sites and other systems that need to avoid the appearance of stupidity.
You can take this course even if not an HPU student: http://www.hpu.edu/admissions/specialstatus.html Cost is $990 plus one off $220 registration fee for non HPU students.
Feel free to contact the instructor at sjoseph@hpu.edu or on skype, username "tansaku"
