AITP- Honolulu February Luncheon 2010
Panel Discussion: Are Apps such as Google Gmail ready for prime time enterprise use?
Google's various applications and platforms are funded through its massive success in advertising, and are increasingly credible. Companies and governments must expect a careful analysis before they know that Google is right for them.
By year-end 2012, Google will provide cloud-based e-mail to at least 10 million enterprise users of Google Apps Premier Edition (GAPE), the paid-for version of Google Apps. Through year-end 2012, Google's non-advertising-related enterprise business will rise to no more than 6% of its total revenue (up from 3% in 2009). By 2014, up to 33% of all new server-side Web application software will be software services and applications created and deployed within a cloud-based application platform as a service (APaaS), and executed in support of an enterprise's processes.
