For most people, the web exists as a place to explore and consume information. But what happens when your role changes from explorer and consumer to that of author, designer, or disseminator of ideas? What skills and knowledge do you need to create a new web page or to maintain an existing website? What possibilities exist to improve your pages or to add major new features?
PNM offers a broad range of courses designed to address these and many other issues facing the web designer; the very breadth of subjects and issues can be daunting for novice or prospective web designers. This workshop helps by providing a general overview of the web design process. You can see where the pieces of the web design puzzle fit together and discover which tools (e.g., Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop) and information you need to build better websites.
Colin Macdonald instituted the first multimedia courses at the UHM Department of Communication, where he taught multimedia design and development for over a decade. Previously, he directed creative services for the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. As an art director for A&M Records in Canada, he gained extensive knowledge of print media. He has conducted traditional media and multimedia training courses in Asia, Hawai‘i, and the U.S. mainland for nearly 20 years. He is a core faculty member of Pacific New Media.
