See how social media can help boost your business! You are invited to the Hawaii Social Media Seminar at Dave and Busters on Thursday, April 14 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The event features four speaking sessions by several of the nation’s most talented social media experts and a lunch buffet served on the Sunset Lanai. During lunch, a panel discussion will take place on corporate best practices and out-sourcing social media. Plus, a Tweet-Up follows the seminar with a mixed-panel of bloggers and influential social media users. The event is hosted by Technology News Bytes in partnership with Social Media Club Hawaii Chapter.

The seminar is an opportunity for business leaders to learn more about today’s ever-present topic – how social media ties in with business practices. As experienced national and local speakers share insight and wisdom along with marketing strategies with real world examples, businesses will be able to leverage social media to achieve their business goals. And the emcee for the event is KITV4’s Amber Lynn Hyden.

Group-buying executives will participate in a discussion on how to leverage group-buying for businesses. Panelists include Co-Founder and President of PLAYHawaii Andrew Roth, CEO and founder of Qmania Douglas Kato, Titus Nakagawa, account manager for Groupon and Emi Hart, Community Manager for Yelp. This session will be moderated by Diane Ako, Director of Public Relations at Halekulani and Waikiki Parc. Diane also writes a Star Advertiser blog called ‘Small Talk’ and previously spent 13 years anchoring and reporting for the local NBC affiliate KHNL.

During lunch on the Sunset Lanai, a panel discussion will be held entitled ‘SEO and SMO Best Practices: Should I outsource my SEO and SMO Social Media?’ Moderated by Tara D. Coomans of SMCHI, attendees will learn about social media management from various companies such as Hawaiian Airlines, Aqua Hotels & Resorts and Farmers Insurance Hawaii, what their perspective is from the inside. Do they hire employees or do they out source? What are the pluses and minus of both?

The Tweet-Up event will be free for attendees of the seminar and open to the public for $10 at the door. A mixed panel of bloggers and influential social media users such as John Heckathorn, Senior Editor at Pacific Basin Communications and dining columnist at Honolulu Magazine, Jason Genegabus from Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Pulse www.honolulupulse.com, Christa Wittmier from Honolulu Nightlife Diaries, Toby Tamaye President of AT Marketing and Catherine Toth from nonstophonolulu.com and www.thecatdish.com. Thanks, Sanna! I was mostly wondering why they weren't mentioned here. And was looking for more background on Nick Unsworth than what's readily available online.

Hands down, the panelists from Hawaii seem to be the most compelling part of this seminar, with experience and stories that would resonate with attendees. Don't miss the pau hana panel in particular!
