Where's the Innovation Center?
Comment by Brent Norris on October 5, 2011 at 12:37pm
We have monthly co-working session at the Innovation Center in Hilo. TechHui members are welcome to participate. We mix tips, tricks and how-tos in an informal discussion and work together on separate projects. Sure doesn't mean we can't shoot for a common goal. : )

Third Wednesday each month at 5:30pm.

@Larry - Not sure about a common project. I think the idea of a creative/co-working space is more to have a place where different people can set up an office with shared common expenses and have to a working environment conducive to creative cross-pollination.

I wonder if before seeking a shared space, we should try to figure out what kind of collaborative project might generate enough interest to get participation? Hardware, software, robotics, etc.?

@Kaleeg H  - there was some talk of space at NELHA a couple of meetings ago, but that space might only work for science/energy research. Guy?

Thanks, Guy.

Hey Big Island Techies: reminder of pau hana on Sept. 26 at NELHA.  Bill Bierman will talk about navigation methods for artificial intelligence.  See updated calendar entry.

Rod, thanks for putting on another great event!

We had a good pau hana last night.  Good to see returning faces and new alike.  If you weren't able to make it, we hope to see you next time.  Eric Brager had an emergency come up, and so we didn't hear about Liquid Robotics.  Instead, Greg Barbour, the new Executive Director of NELHA, said a few words about how he wants to revitalize R&D at NELHA.

Save the date for next time: Sept. 26.

If anyone is interested in giving a little talk about something they are working on, please let me know.  I'd like to have presentations on interesting technical problems you are solving or the like.

Mahalo,

Rod Hinman
