I must admit I'm shocked the payroll isn't computerized..

On the plus side at least the cloud and mobile platforms are much more mature than they were just a few years ago and it sounds like they're pursuing those initiatives. Hopefully the leadership realizes that resolving a mess like this (743 systems!) takes time, support, and resources but will easily pay for itself.

Anyone have any additional inside scoop on these initiatives? Would love to see more open data examples from the State.

The VAX runs DoE's payroll apparently.

Angie, I doubt they'd try porting the software. Transitioning the business process to a different platform is definitely the only option.

My guess is the Vax software may be too expensive to port, plus Vax parts are plentiful, common saying "if it works don't fix it". Just my 2 cents
