Thanks for the kind words Dan... I'm still motivated to get a great space program going on at UH. I'd really like to see it on Maui, given the telescopes on Haleakala that are part of the UH Institute for Astronomy (IfA) and the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC). UH also has a Distance Learning Center at the Mau Research and Tech Park next to MHPCC, where classes are already done via video conferencing. Moreover, there is a great and skilled group of people that could help bring this all together. What's missing is the leadership to make the vision become manifest.

Hi David,

I was thinking the Pukalani Country Club Restaurant.  The time of the meeting is after golf, and the kitchen is open.  They serve food and beverages.

Hi Ray. I'm also interested in the tour.

If UH Maui is serious about STEM education the two people you absolutely have to get involved are Garrett Lisi and Moriba Jah. Garrett is a current resident and Moriba is a former resident currently living in New Mexico. Moriba is a world class astrodynamicist with a talent for connecting with people and Garrett is working on reconciling quantum mechanics with Einstein's theory of gravitation. My two favorite intellectual dinner conversations of the past 5 years were with Garrett and Moriba.

Ray, I'd like to come check out the new science building, and should be around in April. Thanks for putting together the tour.

Reichart - hopefully you wont be stuck in Florida for an extended stay.

Ben/Hiro+Garrett/Crystal offered to host a MauiTechies dinner at that residence in Pukalani, which might be more comfortable than the community center.

In my experience, the Organizer needs to set a date/time and tell us. People will show or not, but polling for date/place is rarely successful.

Looking forward to the UHMC tour!

Folks... I would be interested in exploring the possibilities of starting a Space Exploration Engineering curriculum at UH Maui via Manoa. My focus would be on space situational awareness, space debris tracking and prediction, etc. I attach a CV for convenience.jah_CV_2012v2.pdf

Jerry and Jim - agreed that we need to get back to a regular meeting.  I think we would also like something different than upstairs at Flatbread.  Jiim, can you tell us more about your thoughts for meeting at the Pukalani Community Center?  Would we do a pot luck?

OK, can the people who responded Email me directly at the Email that I sent to each one via the TechHui Friend Request (some I already know -- Jamie, Peter, David -- so I have your Emails!), so I can send out an invitation next week?  EVERYBODY must wear closed-toe shoes, no sandals, no slippers.  The tour will occur in the late afternoon, after work has ended.  We can all head over to a near-by place for a drink afterwards, too -- any suggestions welcome.
