where is says, "Pine, who did not immediately respond to queries, has been targeted by a disgruntled Web designer, Eric Ryan, who launched KymPineIsACrook.com and claims she owes him money, according to an article last summer in the Hawaii Reporter. Her e-mail account was also reportedly hacked around the same time. The article said Pine would advocate for "tougher cyber laws at the Hawaii State Capitol" as a result.

"We must do everything we can to protect the people of Hawaii from these attacks and give prosecutors the tools to ensure justice is served for victims," Pine said at the time."

Bill tabled in Rep McKelvey's committee.  But we need to talk to Angus and make him see that ANY bill along these lines will be toxic to whoever supports it.

FYI I'm using #HB2288 as a hashtag unless someone has a better idea.

It might have something to do with a disgruntled and payment short by one of these lawmakers.

Civil Beat is tweeting that the bill has been tabled.  They also reported that their was passionate testimony for and against this a.m.  Here is a link to their report earlier today http://hawaii.news.blogs.civilbeat.com/post/16533158404/hawaii-may-...

I am a subscriber to Civil Beat.  It is possible that you won't be able to read this unless you are.  Evidently this is coming from some cyber harassment that took place last summer with Rep. Kimberly Pine.

Dear Rep Mizuno,

While you're at it, an excellent idea would be to require all Hawaiians to keep their cell phone on and to log all conversations and timestamped geo-coordinates into a government-accessible database. Of course, hackers can access the data too, which should assist in vigilantism and crowd-sourced law enforcement.

BTW, McKelvey's assistant said there was lots of negative testimony (she was watching session on TV) and seemed to understand what I was saying loud and clear.

And when I talked to Mizumo's assistant, she seemed alarmed and surprised that there was so much pushback on this bill.  I have hopes that he will see the light and save us a time-consuming campaign to bring the bill down (which will unfortunately for him tend to end his political career also)

I have to think that someone (Homeland Security?) came to him and requested this bill since why would he think it up himself.  I called his office 808-586-6050 and (very nicely) clued him in that there was a huge outcry on facebook and various internet sites with plans to make a youtube video mocking him etc. etc.  I did this because I don't want to see someone brought down because he maybe was tricked into sponsoring this by some over-reaching spook.

And better we get this killed gracefully than have to go into overdrive to fight it.  I'm waiting on the vote.

Also called Angus McKelvey's office and gave him a heads up that anyone associated with this bill is going to have the wrath of the internet rain down on them so he shouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.  Wish I'd gotten to him earlier, because the Chair of a committee can stop a bill dead (McKelvey is chair of ERB.)  Unfortunately he won't hear what I've said until the meeting is pau.

thinking about Jerry Isdale's point below, does reps@capitol.hawaii.gov really go to ALL reps ??

The link Jerry already shared : http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/members/legislators.aspx?chamber=H has this at the top of the page ...
