Is there any good info on why it got shut down?

The farm was commissioned in 1986. The Mitsubishi wind turbines used were not well suited to the environment and quickly became a maintenance problem. Parts became scarce and finally in August of 2006, the last of the working turbines were shut down.

This seems like it would make an ideal hands-on lab for a community college course like this..

Re-power as many of the turbines as possible with human capital (which seems to have plenty of supply) instead of investment capital (which seems in quite short supply)
