<p>@Douglas: Agreed. It's so easy to have VCS and CIS in place and to make use of CD with these simple tools. I would go insane if I have to work in an environment without VCS and CIS -- these are the first things I set up when tackling projects.</p>

<p>There are a lot of tools these days to help developers with VCS and CIS. Microsoft for example has Azure and one of Azure's offerings allows a developer to set up a web site that has a form of basic continuous integration for free.</p>
<p>I think the cost and effort of initially setting things up is what is daunting to most, but it looks like tools are improving to the point where it's not that costly to set up and maintain.</p>
