  Hi Stepen. Is your family from Izumo (Shimane-ken)? I ask because I think most Itoga's are from that area (my hometown.)

  > Not sure exactly where, but some place near Hiroshima.
  
  Shimane is next to Hiroshima. Itoga is a rare name found almost exclusively around Izumo-shi in Shimane-ken. Izumo Taisha is the oldest and one of the most important shrines in Japan.
  
  > My mother's side is from Kumamoto in Kyushu.
  
  I also have relatives in Kyushu, but they are from Fukuoka.
