    Hi Truman,

Mika and I enjoyed meeting you and your wife yesterday. She was happy to have someone to chat with in Japanese :-)

Again, I was really impressed by Ascribe. It looks like you had a team banging away for years!

I think you could expand your business using guerilla marketing and partnerships with larger vendors without having to give up a large part of your company to investors.
  • Gabe Morris

    Hi Truman,
Good to meet you yesterday - Ascribe is super-impressive!

Feel free to drop me a line if you want to talk affiliate marketing.
  • Mika Leuck

    Welcome to Techhui, Truman!
I was about to send Techhui's invitation to you... But you are already in! You are quick.
    I will email you.
    Mika

    Hi Truman,

Thank you very much. I also enjoyed your presentation of Ascribe. You have a wonderful product. I was very impressed... as was everyone else!

Please let me know if you'd like to meet sometime to have a discussion about GUI and GUI design principles. Your product presentation shows that you have very good GUI design skills along with your programming talent. I'm sure we would both learn something from each other.

    Much aloha,
    Michal Anne

Hey Truman! I enjoyed meeting you too. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with -- Ascribe is great, and I'm sure it's going to grow.
  • J. David Beutel

Very impressed by your Ascribe demo. It looks beautiful and comprehensive.
  • J. David Beutel

By the way, about investment money, I suspect that it's better to bootstrap without it if you can. I concur with others' comments at the Unconfrenz that from the looks of what you've accomplished so far, you don't really need it.
  • J. David Beutel

I haven't used any AJAX frameworks yet, except a little DWR. I've just used Javascript in the browser, as well as in Selenium scripts. I'm also anticipating features like optional static typing.
  • Mika Leuck

    Hi Truman,

We hope to see you and Elizabeth at Volleyball next time. I couldn't go this time because we are trying to rent the apartment while we are gone.
  • aaron kagawa

    hi truman.
  • aaron kagawa

i'm doing great. working on a new blog interview.
  • Mark Quezada

Yup I'm finally on TechHui... thanks for the invite :)

    Hope you're well.
  • Gabe Morris

    Hey Truman,

Sure do... It's a small enough place (around 120 on staff) so that everyone knows everyone around here.

    Gabe

    Hi Truman,

I actually dont own cashflow, but playing it was quite enlightening. I had several matrix moments of "i see what you're trying to teach me". Its a lot of fun too! I might have to pick up a copy one of these days despite the $200+ price tag.
  • Daniel Leuck

My mother-in-law is flying in to town tomorrow to take care of my poor sick wife.

Is Elisabeth OK? Please tell her Mika and I say hello and wish her well.
  • Alyssa K

    Hi!
  • Scott Murphy

Hi Truman! Yeah I grew up in Tokyo so I'm probably more Japanese in heart. I'll see you around at Glazers!
  • Jason K. Kaneshiro

Thanks! This site looks interesting! have a great day!
  • Lance Furuyama

    Hi Truman,

I've been following the Co-Working thread, and just realized that it happened yesterday. While I don't do any coding, I am curious as to how things went.

It sounded like a great idea when it was presented!
  • Alexander Cheng

    Where are you dude?!!!!
  • Gabe Morris

    hey truman,
is co-working now a weekly thing?
    or intermittent?
  • Gabe Morris

yeah, i work a regular job but i have some flexibility to work off-site... no guarantees that i can exercise that flexibility on any particular date, but always a possibility... will try to stop in next co-working, schedule permitting
  • Chris Kanemura

Hey Truman! How is everything going? Congratulations I heard you folks are expecting!
  • Daniel Leuck

Mika and I really enjoyed hanging out with your coworking group. We will definitely attend future sessions at the Tropical Cafe. Thank you for organizing these!

To everyone - These sessions are a great way to network and share ideas in a comfortable working environment with excellent food. I highly recommend you give the coworking group a try!
  • Gabe Morris

hey - sorry couldn't make co-working - hope to make the next one
  • Daniel Leuck

Thank you for supporting TechHui since the beginning. Its definitely been a community effort. The great sense of community is one of the reasons I love Hawaii!
  • Shawn Drost

We definitely want to offer live walkthroughs! But we'll probably do it the ustream way -- the extra cost and hassle of equipment isn't that big a deal given the context that we'll be using it in.
  • Daniel Leuck

Hey Truman - Likewise. Its funny we are both going through a corporate identity exercise. Comparing notes was very useful. It was great chatting with you and Gabe. The Jupiter Cafe definitely has a good coworking vibe!

The new profile pic is from a rare day in Japan last year when I was actually well rested :-) I was hanging out with family including my new niece and nephew. They always put me in a good mood.

BTW - Your new Ascribe calendar feature looks great! You are definitely a CSS/Javascript wizard.
  • Chris Hall

Thanks, that coworking group seems like an interesting new idea, i'll check out the next meeting this wednesday.
  • Matt Goodman

Ping back. nice to see you around sir. I hope all is well.
  • Laurence A. Lee

Thanks for the compliment. I have enjoyed reading your blog entries, and look forward to reading more of your insights in the future.
  • Kurt Sussman

Thanks, it was great to meet you also. See you at Jupiter next week.
  • Tim Ames

Thanks for the welcome and for pointing out the coworking site. And thanks for buying my sandwiches, too!
  • L.P. "NEENZ" FALEAFINE

    Truman,

I am in a constant state of gratitude. :)
  • Peggy Bustamante

Thanks, Truman! Looking forward to meeting you, too.
    Aloha, Peggy
  • Gabe Morris

Sure - sounds good. Why don't we try somewhere new?

This place, that I've never been to, has a type of Korean black noodle that I've never tried: http://snurl.com/3og37

Within walking distance of Jupiter if you want to work there before lunch.

I'm open to other hole-in-the-wall suggestions, though.

Always a risk something may pop up at work, but I doubt it.
  • Gabe Morris

you haven't been on techhui for a while?
guess they're working you pretty hard in waikiki!
don't worry - i think you can safely skip out quite early all next week!
always my favorite time of the year...
  • Mika Leuck

Thank you for the B-Day message! We had a great time in Hana.
Dan or I will upload some pics from Maui on facebook later!
    Merry Christmas & Happy holidays!
  • Scott Murphy

Sure I'm down! I think I can make it to Glazers around 9am-ish.
  • Matthew Camp

Thanks for the feedback Truman. I wish I had more time to evaluate more of the Javascript libraries that are out there. I found out about jQuery from Scott Gu's blog. He blogged on how jQuery will be integrated within future releases of VS. That kind of kicked off my interest in jQuery.
  • Vince Mitchell

Nice demo last night. I'd like to talk to you about a few ideas...shoot me a msg with your email. Alohas.
  • Bruce Kim

Hi Truman, Dan Leuck tells me that you are a javascript guru. I'm working on a mobile app and am looking for a really talented javascript developer. Are you interested and available?
  • Derek

    Aloha Truman?

You think so? It's only two computers with two monitors each. =D
  • Andy Bumatai

Oh, I see. So you're saying you "cockroached" the idea for your costume. The string that operated the wings was a precursor to your tech future. Glad I was of some help back then.
  • Jared I. Kuroiwa

Definitely! Like I said, I've been meaning to meet you for a while and have read about what you were doing from the 2,000 ft. level.

Take care and see you soon.
  • Scott McDonald

Thanks Truman!! Just sent you an email...
  • Fred Baclig

Hey Truman is the co-working group still going? I need to get my code on!
  • Roger Dunn
