About Me:
Hello, I am looking for collaborators for several projects Virtual Reality (VR) that I haven't finished while I was in academia. Some examples:
-- eye convergence for HMD ("Chio-Chio-san" project, IN PROGRESS, NEARLY FINISHED, PAPER ACCEPTED),
-- simulated HDR for real-time rendering (FINISHED AND PUBLISHED),
-- dP x dV invariant in perception in VR (BURIED IN DEEP THOUGHTS, BUT STILL ALIVE ),
-- haptic wind in VR (CONCEPT PAPER PUBLISHED, NEED SUBJECTS for TEST!),
-- virtual roommates (FINISHED AND PUBLISHED, CAN BE IMPROVED FURTHER)
-- view sliding for virtual travel (USER STUDY NEEDED),
-- natural selection in artificial reality (FINISHED AND PUBLSHED),
-- alternative realities for non-human beings (CONCEPT PAPER PUBLISHED, NEED USER STUDY).
Lately, I've been thinking about using programmable human-like agents for VR interface validation. Also, these agents can be used for testing various travel-control techniques, such as obstacle detection and avoidance, speed control, and such. So, no need for human subjects at all. That looks promising.
All listed topics are eggs for future work and papers. Some already hatched. If anyone is interested to learn more, or better yet, to collaborate, gmail andrei.sherstyuk, let's talk.
Welcome Andrei! Its great to see more people from Avatar-Reality.
The FAQ is a good place to learn about the site. You may want to join some of the interest groups such as C and C++ Developers, Game Developers and Robotics.
We hope you find TechHui useful and invite others. Have a great day!

Funny! I am still learning this "open-for-all" kind of writing, which brings memories from deep childhood. Those of you who know Komatsu Sakyo, one of the best Japanese sci-fi writers of the last century, perhaps remember his adorable extra-terrestrial characher Goemon (not Isikawa Goemon!) who used a roll of toilet paper as a notebook, with a brush and ink. To make the analogy complete, let's add a baloon to one end of the paper and let it fly high. :-)
Hi Andrei,
How did you read Komatsu Sakyo? Was his work translated to Russian!? Have you always spoken English? I know some of his books are translated to English... I used to read Japanese sci-fi (include Komatsu Sakyo) a lot when I was a kid. I was more of a Hoshi Shin-ichi person. Yes, it's so funny some of their stories are becoming real right now in our life!

I saw your post and am glad to see another language other than English and Japanese on TechHui.
I forgot to mention that we have a group "Artificial Intelligence", too. I remember that you talked about Artificial Intelligence to us at UH.
Re: $10M story
Please share the article with Japanese co-workers. They will find the names in the article amusing.
