Hawaii Kai Techies

A recurring meetup of like-minded, tech-skewed, progressively-opinionated, entrepreneurial professionals living/working in East Oahu.

Each meetup will provide members with feedback and input on product, design, or business ideas, challenges, or roadblocks.
+ All attendees will be given an opportunity to present their item to the group.
+ Everyone is expected to provide helpful feedback, relevant connections, or valuable advice.

Overall goal is to provide or gather positive, constructive, and helpful feedback, plus an opportunity to meet, network, learn, discuss, plan, and educate.

Sounds like a good idea. If we need a place to meet ... I'm at the Mauna Luan with plenty of options. Let me know ... look forward to meeting you all!

When is the next one Jason?

  • Jason Rushin

Let's do the Tuesday after Labor Day. Will be a good start to the short week! :-)

I'll send out a note to everyone.

  • Rico Moreno

9/4 sounds good for me! Look forward to your note Jason.

If you need a place to meet ... I can get space at the Moana Luan on Hahaione St. Just let me ASAP so I can reserve the room.

    Thanks ... Rico

  • Rico Moreno

Hi All ... are we having a meeting on Tuesday?!?

    Where ... When

    Rico

  • Jason Rushin

Tomorrow, 9am, Island Brew Coffeehouse! :-)

  • Chad Kumabe

Cool. Looking forward to meeting up.
  • Russel Cheng ラッセル チェン

Sorry to miss today. Sounds like it was a session.

    Aloha Group!!

Thanks for the meetup ... was nice meeting all of those that were there!

For those that are interested in going to the "Aloha Ruby Conf" ... here is the link for the local discount Registration ( if there are any left @ $149-) https://eventrainbow.com/aloharubyconf/2012?promo=LOCAL

Looking forward to our next meeting.

Oh! if everybody is happy with the Island Brew Coffehouse and they (IBC) don't mind us taking up a third of their space with only ordering a coffee per person ... fine! Otherwise I could reserve one of the large meeting areas at the Moana Luan (521 Hahaione St) West Conference area, which could hold a much larger group ... easily 20 people at the same table setup.

OR if you want to 'see' water we could also meet out by one of the pool picnic/BBQ areas. I just need to know at least a week in advance so I won't have to fight for your preferred space !;-))

    Just a thought! ... Mahalo ... Rico

  • Matthew S. Glei

I'd like to join the Hawaii Kai group.  I know several developers who live out here.  I've just started two mainland gigs this week, so life is good.  Let me know when the next meeting is happening.

  • Peter Kay

Add me on the list. Much nicer to connect w/ others without the drive into town!

  • Rico Moreno

    Welcome Peter & Matthew!

Great to have such capable & powerful additions to our group!!

Say ... Joel et al ... I haven't heard if you think that going to a bigger location (ML) is something that you would like to do ... or what day you have selected!

Just asking ... the meeting space here at the Mauna Luan has to be reserved!

BTW ... WWW is coming up on the 26th ... in case anyone is interested. This time it'll be at the BoxJelly location.

Last nite's WetWare Wednesday meeting was mostly promoting this weekend's intense 54 hour "Startup Weekend" activities all being held at BoxJelly.

About 50+ people attended. Some of the previous meetings were over 100. Then the content was impressive! This time it was mostly a meet & greet/Networking opportunity.

The sponsor Team-Praxis brought some awesome food!! and told about their business here in Hawaii ... nearly 20 years!! That alone is impressive. Oh! they are looking for developers, .net experience, and have some other positions.

Doesn't look like there is much activity going on here in Hawaii Kai or am I just missing the notices?!?

The Aloha Ruby Conference is coming up 10/8 & 9 ... should be good!

    Take care ...

    HI Kai Techies!! ... Howzit?!?!

Just wondering ... is there any interest in meeting or anything?!
