Welcome Mike!  we havent had a meetup of the Maui Techies in a couple months - overdue imho.  Perhaps down at Maui Brewery in kihei (10yr celebration today 31Jan 3-10pm) or lahaina area (W. Maui Techies?) or ???

MauiMakers.org is another group (now an official non-profit corp) that is starting to have weekly meetings + classes at new warehouse space (200 Waiehu Beach Rd, Wailuku, HI 96793 )  See that site for details.

Aloha everyone. Definitely want to jump on board with any get togethers on island. I develop mass market savvy mobile applications. Getting my feet wet with Swift recently.

If anyone out there wants to work with me on some fun mobile projects, please give me a shout. Could always use some programming inspiration. I live in Paia by the way.

More importantly, when's the next gathering? It'd be fun to meet you guys.

I've spoken to the folks at the brewery and they would love to have us once they get their tours up and running which will likely be towards the end of January.

Anita - I've already brought that up to Irena.

Also: Maui Techies event Tuesday 12/30, 5PM at the MACC. Citizenfour the Edward Snowden movie. Meet at 4:30/ 4:45PM by the statue sitting on the bench.

Bryan, if there's space, I think there would be some Society of Women Engineers member who would be interested in the tour as well (hint, hint).

Jerry: Very much agree on west side get together. But with the Kihei brewery opening very soon, it makes more sense to have the west side gathering at somewhere else other than the west side brewery. We are discussing options such as Fleetwoods rooftop.

Doug: great idea. They will be starting regularly scheduled public tours, so I'm sure we can set up a private one. I've got plenty contacts at the brewery, I will follow up with them.

Will report back when I have more info.

Inspired Teachers of UHMC had a tour of the Mauil Brew Pub in the Tech Park on Fridayit was fantastic, I'm wondering they would be willing to do a tour for the Tech Hui?  Might be worth trying to call.  Sorry I don't have any contact info.

At the Nov 12 MauiTechies meetup, there was a good bit of discussion about follow-on events.  A social meeting on the west side (Maui Brew Pub) was a well received idea.  An even more relevant one was the idea of a workshop/class on computer security (mac in particular).

How about one or both of these in January?

I do think the security event might be better hosted at MEDB or similar than a pub.

Following on the heels of the last get together at Cafe Carmen in Kihei, we're having another one. By popular demand this one will be upcountry at Casanova on Wednesday, November 12th at 5PM.

This Sunday morning (11/2), live out your zombie fitness fantasy!

The "Obstacle Z" is a fun 5K run in Kahului (Maui) where you can either:
- run the 5K, trying to stay away from the zombies on the course, or
- BE A ZOMBIE, infecting runners that you can catch

If you choose the zombie path, you get professionally made up on Sunday morning, and then take a station either as a predator in a zombie zone, or as a helper (at registration, passing out water, etc.)

The event benefits the MS Society and I think they're short on volunteers. It should be a fun way to spend Sunday morning; you'll be done by 11:00 or so.

To participate, fill out the volunteer registration form and the volunteer consent form then email them to Candice.Schwalbach@nmss.org orThomas.Rackleff@nmss.org
