Yay for AI! The videos in the article are interesting. I can only guess as to what percepts are given to the ghosts, and I guess the little blinky squares are a clue.
The ACM is running a programming contest. Not strictly AI, but it's similar in structure to the Google AI contest that ended in December. Here's the ACM challenge: http://queue.acm.org/icpc/
Here's the Google AI contest page: http://ai-contest.com/ The winning code (which apparently dominated the contest) was just an alpha-beta look-ahead.
Might be worth taking a run at...
Hi Jerry, Thanks - have responded with more detailed Scooba throughts on my blog. If you have a really large area (more than 80 square feet) it might need a couple of Scoobas. Not sure what the new smaller one's range is. But it does sound like hacking is a possibility. Check out my latest blog post :-)
BTW, the courses I'm teaching online are HPU rather than UH now (I moved!), and the big advantage for the independent student is mainly price :-) Most classes require about 12 hours a week for the novice student, but probably much less for industry veterans :-)
On the off chance that anyone might be interested I've been blogging my experiences living with Scooba the floor washing robot. It's a great example of something at the intersection of the MULT 3910 ST: Mobile Design and CSCI 4801 Artificial Intelligence courses I'm teaching at HPU this semester.
Hi AIers,
Here's a first draft of a syllabus for next semester's Artificial Intelligence course at HPU:
