3 MINUTE BUSINESS ELEVATOR PITCH

Entrepreneurs in this category will be learning to pitch their ideas to banks, potential partners, family and friends

Eligibility Criteria: In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
* Be an entrepreneur who has either started a company or who plans to start a company in the near future. It is not required that a legal entity has been formed, but this is for entrepreneurs with serious ideas.
* You should be working on a business plan that does NOT include seeking traditional private equity or venture capital investment money, and your business is not looking to go IPO.
* Agree to attend the October 22 Informational Workshop (1-2 hours)
* Agree to 1-2 hours with an assigned one-on-one coach, a seasoned entrepreneur. This coaching will take place between October 22 and November 12.
* Pay $25 application fee and submit a 1 page executive summary by October 10
* Be available on November 19 from 3-4 p.m. at the Plaza Club (downtown Honolulu) for the competition at which the top “pitchers” will give 3 minute elevator pitches and compete for $750!

Executive Summary Requirements:
* Maximum 1 page summary, 12 point font, no smaller than 0.5” margins all around
* The components of the summary must include:
1) Problem statement
2) Description of the product/service
3) Solution to the problem
4) Addressable market/customers
5) Differentiators from potential competitors

3 MINUTE VENTURE CAPITAL ELEVATOR PITCH Entrepreneurs in this category will be learning to pitch their ideas to venture capitalists or private equity investors

Eligibility Criteria: In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
* Be an entrepreneur engaged with a high growth company that is seeking private investment money, or be an entrepreneur who is in the process of creating a legal entity within the next 6 months that will be seeking private investment money
* Have raised less than $100,000 in investment money, including friends and family rounds and in-kind capital
* Agree to attend the October 22 Informational Workshop (1 hour)
* Agree to 1-2 hours of one on one coaching by a seasoned entrepreneur who has raised private equity. This coaching must take place between October 22 and November 12.
* Pay $25 application fee and submit a 1 page executive summary by October 10
* Be available on November 19 from 3-4 p.m. at the Plaza Club for the competition at which the top “pitchers” will give 3 minute elevator pitches and compete for $750!

FULL 20 MINUTE VENTURE CAPITAL PITCH
Entrepreneurs in this category will be learning to pitch their ideas to venture capitalists or private equity investors

Eligibility Criteria: In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
* Be an entrepreneur engaged with a *high growth* company that is seeking private investment money, or be an entrepreneur who is in the process of creating a legal entity within the next 6 months that will be seeking private investment money. A high growth company is one whose exit strategy is to get acquired for several million dollars or to go public on a stock exchange, and to provide a return on investment for its angel and venture capital investors.
* Have a full business plan or be in the process of writing one
* Have raised less than $500,000 in investment money, including your own money, friends and family rounds and in-kind capital
* Agree to attend the October 22 Informational Workshop (1-2 hours)
* Agree to 3-5 hours with an assigned one-on-one coach (a seasoned veteran who is either an entrepreneur who has raised large amounts of private equity or an investor in high growth companies). This coaching will take place between October 22 and November 12.
* Pay $25 application fee and submit a 2-3 page executive summary by October 10
* Be available on November 19 from 4-5 p.m. at the Plaza Club (downtown Honolulu) for the competition at which the top“pitchers” will give 20 minute slide presentations and compete for $3000!

Executive Summary Requirements:
* Maximum 3 page summary, 12 point font, no smaller than 0.5” margins all around
* The components of the summary must include:
1) Mission statement
2) Problem statement
3) Description of the product/service
4) Solution to the problem
5) Addressable market/customers
6) Competition – identification of competitors and your differences
7) Intellectual Property
8) Business Model
9) Financial Summary – include summary projections and exit strategy. 1 paragraph max.
10) Management Bios
