We are having a second Science Building tour soon at UHMC -- and thanks to all who made it to the May tour.  If anybody wants to join this tour, please Friend me via Tech Hui, and send me your Email for an invitation.  You must wear Closed-Toe Shoes (running, tennis, et al).

You are invited to a informal Techhui potluck hosted by

Garrett, Crystal, and Ben.

Casual potluck on the lanai.

297 Haulani St, Pukalani (through the white gates)
This Sunday, April 22, 5:30-9pm

Hang out, talk story, enjoy the sunset (6:45), maybe play some games.
Kids, and adults who like to behave like kids, can jump on the
trampoline. Bring food, or drinks, or just your charming personality.
If you bring food, we ask that it not have much processed junk in it,
such as partially hydrogenated oils. Same goes for your personality.
For the drinks, bring what you like. BBQ is available. There will be
many interesting and geeky people here. Feel free to bring more.

Please let me know if you are coming.

Do you check job postings here?

I'd be interested in attending.  Should be able to make all the dates up to around noon time.

Let me know what you're thinking about in terms of site and arrangement.

Google IO will be June 27-29th at Moscone Center in San Francisco

   https://developers.google.com/events/io/

They offer remote viewing for selected events via Google IO Extended

  https://developers.google.com/events/io/io-extended

Last year Les V hosted one here (before leaving for his google job).. this year I signed up to host one here on Maui.  I think the GTUG in Honolulu is hosting one too.

Who is interested in attending?

Yeah, IFA is a world class organization with amazing facilities on Haleakala and Mauna Kea.  Notable facilities on Haleakala include Mees Solar Observatory and Pan-Starrs, not to mention the planned National Solar Observatory.  Did I forget to mention the 30 Meter observatory planned for Mauna Kea?

Even simple measurements, like atmospheric CO2 atop Mauna Kea over a long period of time, yields valuable scientific insights and are comprehensible by the general public.

Accessible science of interest to the general public would be a great boost to STEM education.  The IFA public outreach at the Wailuku Library and IFA offices in Pukalani are programs UHMC can leverage off of.
