Hi Amber and Brandyn,

Thanks for setting up these hikes! We are heading to Japan for 2 weeks on Thursday but would love to join when we get back.

I started a new blog today. No ads. No fads. I hope it does some good. Probably mostly science observations and editorials. http://dongilmore.blogspot.com/

Hike: Trail - Kahakapao Trail (Makawao Forest Reserve)
Sunday, 10/25, 11a
90 kahakapao Rd, Maui, HI

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=90+kahakapao+Rd,+Maui,+HI&hl=en
From Makawao, head north on Makawao Ave until you pass St. Joseph's Church on your right.
Turn right on to Piiholo Road. Travel approximately 3km.
Turn left on the Waiahiwi Road.
Turn right on to Kahakapao Road and follow on up until the gate that reads "Entering Makawao Forest.".
Do not park inside the gate. They may close and lock it at any time. Don't leave your valuables, this is just common sense in Maui.
There are several trails that branch off the paved road (all marked). People bike these trails also. If you head straight up you will hit the reservoir.
The ground can be muddy, and some parts including the paved road are actually steep.
Figure a 7km hike is about 3+ hours.

Nice to meet and talk story with many of you. Great group. Given that there were about five other events going on that night, it was a strong turnout.

Thanks also to our super hosts Doug and Susan.
