Cool stuff!

I secured the Pukalani Country Club Restaurant for a meeting when convenient.

Sounds like some interesting topics. Thanks for the links, David. I've been wanting to come out for one of these but am off island this week.

Thanks for organizing last night's gathering Jerry!   I enjoyed learning about Reichert's tv show that is in production, and seeing Ben and Doug Levin with families taking a break from their project.   It was good to catch up with Don, although I forgot to ask about his novel.   Cheyne reminded me that this gathering is very much like one we had ten years ago and was written about in Fast Company (http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/62/dispatches.html).

I shared a bit about the local stock exchange idea which I encourage all to check out at http://HILocalExchange.org.   It could be an engine that would help the overall entrepreneurship eco-system, and be a solution to a problem that this group's originator, Dan Leuck pointed out in his excellent interview with Civil Beat (http://tinyurl.com/3tluvyw).   Please check it out, complete the survey, and if so moved, make a contribution at http://Greenfunder.com.

The DCCA study group has its second meeting on September 9th and I am planning to webcast it.

Looking forward to the demo of the combination of Gabriel Mott's color box with Ben's touch screen DJ system.  Keep us posted as to when and where.

I believe that Doug Levin offered to host a future meeting at his conference room at the Levin & Hu building behind Home Depot - a more central and quiet location, with a compelling view of Haleakela with the Puunene sugar mill in the foreground.

I am happy to organize some meetings, UpCountry on Wednesday nights?

We need someone other than myself to coordinate the Maui Techie dinners.  My doing them is too much like a maui makers event - and I've got enough going on there now.

Any takers?  please?

@jerry - I'm back from Boston and probably available for a meeting most anytime during August.

At our last dinner (June 29th) we said we'd have another meeting in 3-4 weeks, and maybe start being regular (3rd wednesday).  Well that would have been yesterday and we all completely forgot.

Anyone up for a dinner meetup in early august? or shall we push to 3rd wednesday again?

@Jerry - On Thursday (7/21/2011) Verizon turned on 4G LTE in Lahaina and Kahului.  It is actually more than hype, I know folks on the mainland seeing 20Mbps both up AND down...  however that's rare...  typical it's more like 3-9 Mbps.

4G LTE is on and working in Lahaina and Kahului...  I just don't know yet if the Haiku tower has it and if it reaches Pauwela from the Haiku tower which is what I'm hoping for.  We found the perfect house down Honopou, totally off grid...  which would just fantastic, if I still had a fast and stable enough internet connection to make a living...

I bought a 4G LTE USB modem from Verizon today and will be taking it down to Pauwela on Monday to see if it works...  fingers crossed.

@Jon Brown: Did they actually do anything here? 4G is pretty much a marketing scam er um pitch.  Our terrain here on ne shore makes it pretty hard to get coverage - that and low (high income) population density.
