I am also interested, but will be in SF at Slow Money.  Will also follow Tommy Russo's lead and check out Coffee & Power while there.   Am sending Doug a copy of the e-mail with notes and recording of the July lunch meeting on the subject.

Doug - I am interested and may be able to make it for the first part of the meeting. However Thursdays 6-9pm is the Maui Makers public meeting and I need to open and setup the space ahead of that time.

[cross-posted to Maui CoWorking Group - UPDATED with correct Evite link]

Hi everyone,

Several of us who have expressed an interest in Maui co-working are getting together on Thursday, Oct. 13 to brainstorm ideas, gather input, and explore possibilities. While the event is taking place in Kihei, and MRTC is hosting, I want to stress that our goal is to come up with a coordinated set of spaces in different parts of the island. Organizations with potential space in Kahului, up-country, and Lahaina are participating in the discussion.

Even if you're not ready to sign up for space at this point, if co-working is something that intrigues you I'll encourage you to come out and join the discussion. We're just getting started, and figuring out where the demand is and what it looks like is an important part of moving forward.

Best,

Doug

On Thurs Oct 6, the King Kekaulike HS Robotics Club is having a fundraiser - showing the new documentary "Bots High".  The film follows 3 groups of high school students as the develop and compete BattleBots.  The KKHS Robotics Club competes in VEX and FIRST competitions. This year, as one of the mentors, I have started teaching arduino based robotics to those who are not involved in the competitions.

Our showing will be outdoors (weather permitting) utilizing Gabe Mott's ColorBox - a projection cube with interactive (kinect) features. Gabe will be demonstrating the box before and after the film.

Info on the event is at http://www.mauimakers.com/blog/botshigh/

Information on the film is at http://botshigh.com

Hi all! The Maui Research and Technology Center (MRTC) in Kihei has co-working space available. As David mentioned Pam Alesna is the Assistant Property Manager at the facility and can be contacted for a tour. The program we have at MRTC is called the Virtual Incubation Program (VIP). For $100/month clients will be given a mailing address and access to the conference room at MRTC for up to 20 hours per month. As additional services, access to the co-working space will be made available for a one time set-up fee of $50. A dedicated desk option can also be made available in the co-working space for an added monthly fee. This program is primarily for tech-startup companies. More information on the VIP can be found on our website at: http://www.htdc.org/programsservices/incubation_virtual.html, or you can contact me at sandi@htdc.org, (808) 539-3616.

Hi Roxanne, thanks for the response.

I'll be there starting the 2nd, working all that week from wherever I end up staying, happy to meet/hang out with any other techies at any point.
