Hi Ben, Les, and Keith,
Yes, Les, we had about 8 people show at Makawao Sushi on Wed, July 15 at 4. Then my life went nuts for a while (shoulder surgery, family reunion, etc.)
From past experience, most people liked to come after work and after mainland biz hours.
I probably wouldn't make it on Saturdays. Too much (fun) going on.
Restaurants are nice because we don't have to bring food, fix food, etc. The Dunes at Maui Lani is central. It's usually quiet pau hana. 4 or so.
Makawao Sushi is convenient for me and upcountry folks.
Lunch in Paia sounds great. Flatbread's meeting room?
Families? That's a twist.
That said, I'm up for whatever works!
Lynn

Hi Folks -
( Les - great timing. I was actually going to post about getting together as well. Looks like last post on this was in July..?)
Just joined. Just arrived. Would love to get a group together. Perhaps somewhere that is centrally located. From past strings - looks like weekends would work for better for some people.
May I suggest that we try to get a an event together for:
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
Location: Central. TBD. Maybe Kahului or Wailuku
Is there anyone in Central, Paia, North Kihei etc that would be wiling to host this at their house? Sometimes hosting at a home is more personable and more people show up. If people have kids - sometimes better as well so that they can bring along. Social event and networking events seem to work great in Silicon Valley.
We just moved here and are currently staying in Lahaina at Aina Nalu. Happy to host here (great pool area and meeting area) but might be far for some folks up country. I have an offer in on a house in Wailuki - if we get it my wife and I would be happy to host monthly in future.
We will commit to bring 5 people to next event.

Lynn, did you get many folks come? Any to RSVP? Should we try again? There are a lot more groups besides here, LinkedIn, IEEE, but we don't all seem to come out.
IEEE has had two sponsored events that got about 20 people out. I'd be up for a once a month event just about anywhere on the island, and/or a weekly event on the North Shore.
I don't mean to compete with anyone's plans but for years we had a weekly tech group meeting on the North Shore. We have some new interest so David Fisher and I are resurrecting it.
Wednesday, July 15, at 4 p.m., Makawao Sushi.
We might try meeting at the Dunes next week, depending on who's interested.
Come!
Aloha,
Lynn
For a while I was meeting with 5 guys off and on in Makawao.
I would like to come and I will pass along the message to others once we have a time and date. As just started working in an office again, nights and weekends are better for me. (or lunch if it is Kahului).
How does Tuesday lunch sound? Any place? Outside seating is better because then we can get all rowdy about which code or framework to use.
paia - flatbread or cafe de amis?
kahului - pinatas?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Doug,
I believe I'm open next weekend or the one after, either day. How about meeting somewhere in central Maui? Kahului? Anyone else out there interested?
Hi John,
Weekend could work. I worked for adeze.com, full time until we went bust. Right now, I've got a couple of contracts which are keep me >40 hours per week, companies in Cupertion, Palo Alto and Vancouver BC. Let's build consensus for a lunch plan.

I'd enjoy networking with some other Maui techies, but I live/work in Lahaina. I work full time as a software engineer for a California company so I'm tied up until evening on weekdays. Anyone interested in a weekend lunch?
