Are there any news about co-working space in Maui? Does anybody know a place where I could rent a desk for 3 months with a decent internet connection – preferably close to the north shore? How about the Maui College.. do you have to be an enrolled student in order to use their facilities?

I'm tired of working alone from home… ;) really appreciate any advice.

Many thanks

Mark has been a part of the broader discussion on co-working and the MRTC indeed has co-working space. But that is in Kihei. I commuted from Huelo to Kihei for many years. Not a bad drive if you have clients or co- workers to interact with. I still host meetings there from time to time. Personally I'd like something closer to where I live as part of a regular routine. The Haiku or Pauwela canneries area is top of my list.

Yes, I'm interested in co-working space in Makawao.  Will consider Paia.  Haiku is a bit too far.  My day job worksite is Kihei or Haleakala.

Has anybody talked to Mark Ausbeck over at HTDC-MEP?  I think some sort of co-working/Incubator space at a UH-MC or UH-IFA facility is our best bet.

I'm not holding my breath for high-speed internet access out of Haiku nor Paia.

Best Regards,

Jim

I've been keeping an eye out for suitable space for Coworking space around Paia for a while.  I haven't had much time to spend on it and still question how viable it really would be in such a small community, but I'm certainly interested.

I would be interested in exploring co-working in Paia, Makawao, or Haiku.

I'm considering setting up a co-working location in Paia or Makawao. I wanted to find out if anyone was interested. I need office space by August, and would be able to commit to a long term lease. My goal is to find at least 2-3 other professionals who may be interested in sharing a space.

Jon, thanks for the update, and the great pix. I love the wide angles / panoramas... great to get a sense of the context of the space. Let's chat when you're back.

Just got back from a WordPress meetup followed by Vegas Jelly http://wiki.workatjelly.com/w/page/38951064/Las%20Vegas%20Jelly at the Las Vegas co-working space /usr/lib http://usrlib.org/

Very cool co-working space, I'm headed back tomorrow to work for the day.  The space was having a Jelly session (not actually sure what they're properly called, but big collaborative meetup of all sorts of folks starting up and working on projects).

I'm look forward to getting something similar started on Maui!   (photos attached -- note when I took the photos the Jelly crowd had moved into "the classroom" which is a multipurpose meeting room).

Jon, great notes on the meeting.  I was in SF when it happened.  I did manage to visit Hacker Dojo and will post some fun photos.  It looks like we are neighbors in Huelo.  One recommendation for meeting in North Maui is the North Shore Cafe across from Colleen's.  Limitation is lack of WIFI and no/poor reception for Clear.

Have some other ideas, but must run....
