Most posts are outbound links to studies/blog posts/articles on usability, not corporate PR.
This is quite an original take on a homepage for an otherwise traditional text article-focused content website. I really like the thumbnail article summaries that pop up when you mouse over a photo. Also, the flexibility provided to 1) have each story take up a unique/different range of cells 2) scroll back through the entire archive 3) easily hop to an article and back to the homepage 4) get unique urls even though you're in flash .... overall, I think the average reader will wind up reading a lot more articles than they would through a normal interface (and the article bears that out in terms of stats on length of average visit).

To be clear, the Flash-heavy structure might not work for sites with longer-form content.

I think the model could be successfully applied to other verticals (cars?). What do you all think? Hellotag:www.techhui.com,2009-05-02:1702911:Topic:415642009-05-02T22:53:57.741ZKenneth Makuakanehttp://www.techhui.com/profile/KennethMakuakane

For everyone's reference, I thought I'd post a couple of the links I used in my presentation at last week's GUI meet-up.

Before I do that, I also want to highlight a wonderfully designed Flash application I just came across: Memolio.
Click on the "Create" tab and then click on "Try it out".
For anyone working on an application that involves photo management, it's definitely worth a look.
Speaking of interviews and presentations in audio and video format, the TED video player (in Flash) has a nice GUI to index and jump to interesting parts of a video. Just mouse over the video window, and content buttons appear over the progress slider. Mouse over a button for a tool tip, or click to jump to that part. Of course, you can drag the slider around too. Here's an example.
The video itself is interesting too, about a multi-touch GUI. But it's from 2 years ago, so not that radical since the iPhone. Next Meeting - We need an organizertag:www.techhui.com,2008-04-16:1702911:Topic:121302008-04-16T23:03:47.728ZDaniel Leuckhttp://www.techhui.com/profile/dleuck
I will be in NY during the next meeting (May 6th). Is anyone willing to take the coordination position for May? You are welcome to use our facilities or your own. Cory from Blue Lava has agreed to present Blue Lava's iLovePhotos UI and share his usability testing experiences with us. I'm bummed I will miss the presentation because I am really interested in the application.
