Though this was a nice tidbit for the ones considering wave a 'fail' after 7 months for a limited audience:

btw no hedging allowed for fail...something cannot be a failure and then suddenly not a failure anymore. Diffusion of innovations take a time.

I sort of like having 2 groups, one for hard-core knowledge sharing, and this one for news discussions, etc.. Makes it more local :)

Anyway, just came across this:
Millions of Buzz users, and improvements based on your feedback

I like how they are listening to people's suggestions.. Buzz will go far with this attitude :)

Les, I hunted around, there's a couple other Google groups on TechHui but they're for certain technologies like GAE or GWT. So, this is the only true Google group. =)

I thought there was already a google Group, but since this is now Google, Iʻll mention the Maui GUTG.

I've created a Maui Google Technical Users Group for those working with Google Technologies like Android, GWT, Hosted Apps, App Engine, etc.

They've asked that I create a GoogleGroup. To Join, please visit http://groups.google.com/group/maui-gtug

New: Google group - I figured we might as well consolidate this group... if any company deserves it Google does. Check the updated description... this isn't just for wave anymore.

Now Orkut is pretty dead, but might have potential, as it could become a single place for managing Google identities, used by Gmail, Wave, Docs, etc... it could make a comeback along with Google's expanding presence in the Social networking arena.. (Having an Orkut account, I noticed it is pretty popular with Indian community.. :)

FYI - Orkut has over 10 million active users. (It has only 'failed' in the US)

I am looking forward to Wave being adopted by our company's network.. I think it will really simplify communication with customers as well as internal discussions.

Another major key to Wave's success is it's Federation Protocol, which is still currently in development. This protocol will allow 3rd parties to become Wave providers.

In general, I think Wave will take time to gain momentum, but will surely become a sizable player in online communication. That is, of course, until someone comes up with something even cooler :)

Apparently there will be a big announcement from Google re: social media tomorrow. It could be some sort of SocialWok (SNS on top of Google Apps) / Wave / OpenSocial integration.

Orkut = FAIL
Gmail = Win

Re Wave: We'll see what happens. Google essentially introduced an alpha project to the world. So far, I have not been able to put Wave to any good use, despite my best efforts. It's too "raw" of a technology at this point, too few people are on it, and the learning curve for the average user would be too high right now. In a few years, who knows.

So far, the coolest thing I've seen to come out of google wave is the "pulp fiction" video.

Another google project that went bust was Lively.
