mCommerce Comes of Age

Would you browse and buy clothing with your phone? Nearly half of all purchases on Japan's hottest new fashion portal are transacted via mobile phones.

WSJ: One unique area where Japan is ahead of the pack is mobile e-commerce, where it is the global leader. Registered users can conveniently buy items from their cellphones. Mobile commerce now is nearly makes up half of Zozotown’s total sales, which totaled over 17 billion yen (US$190 million; 1 US$1 = JPY90) for the 12 months ended in March 2010, according to Start Today’s annual results.
