Senior Network Administrator – Honolulu, HI

Position Summary:

The senior network administrator is responsible for keeping the network functioning at optimal levels. This includes the internal network (LAN), the company-wide network that encompasses multiple locations (WAN) as well as the connection with the outside world. The senior network administrator will stay on top of current technologies which can enhance network performance and availability. In addition, the senior network administrator provides the law and order of the network by spelling out the rules and regulations of the company. Other duties include protecting internal users from outside threats, including hackers, viruses, spyware and malware.

Roles:

•             Function

The Senior network administrator oversees all aspects of Aston Hotels & Resorts networks, from managing users' accounts and machines to minimizing network downtime. They also are responsible for upgrading equipment and troubleshooting network problems.  The Senior network administrator is responsible for monitoring the network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. The senior network administrator will be keep current on technologies as they relate to the network to include but not limited to WAN, LAN, infrastructure equipment and VPN.

•             Security

The Senior network administrator is responsible for ensuring the security of Aston Hotels & Resorts network from threats originating from inside and outside the organization. The Senior network administrator has to do frequent audits and ensure that the security policies are up-to-date and are being followed.

•             Maintenance

The Senior network administrator will be responsible for the maintenance of both the hardware and software aspects of the system.  This normally includes deploying, configuring, maintaining and monitoring active data network or converged infrastructure environments and related network equipment.

Position Responsibilities:

• The Senior network administrator reports to the ITS Manager
• Maintain and audit firewall configurations
• Write and implement the policies to govern Aston Hotels & Resorts network environment and the systems that are connected to it.
• Add, remove, or update user account information, reset passwords, etc.
• Find security gaps by performing routine audits of hardware and software entities on the network and closing those gaps.
• Protect the network from malicious entities such as hackers, viruses and spyware.
• Ensure the security of traffic that passes through the network.
• Manage, assign, and maintain the list of network addresses.
• Upgrade, manage, and maintain VPN concentrators, routers, and other Network equipment.

• Ensure proper functioning of the network.
• Design and organize the system network.
• Assigning routing procedures and configurations.
• Maintenance of various network based servers.
• Management of property routers, Core switches, Core firewalls and Property firewall when applicable
• High level network monitoring
• All corporate and property virtual LANs
• Network engineering when applicable
• Network backups
• Network Troubleshooting
• Monitor Network for Latency, Bandwidth usage, IOS Changes, over utilization and Up/Down.
• Monitor system and alert logs.
• Administrator of Websense, Fireeye, IPS, SolarWinds, Cacti, SmokePing and other network monitoring applications.
• Supervise the Junior network administrator
• Other network related issues such as, firewall open ports requests, mac-address tracing, duplicate address analysis, circuit issues, bandwidth issues and latency issues.
