Hello all,
I'm an electrical engineer. I've worked in various hardware and software design positions for the last 20 years. My main interest is research and development of assistive technologies. I'm currently working for a company that's developing a mobile technology for people with PTSD and/or TBI. Very interested in STEM education and programs for children and youth here in Hawaii. I work a tiny while each week at the Hawaii Childrens Discovery Center for fun and also to support play based education in our community. Interested in sustainability issues and the environment. I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

Hi,
I help people discover and explore appropriate technology; help them understand what technology is about and how it can help them. I'm currently working on a no-budget stealth update of my WomensWork project (womenswork.org) and Role Model Project for Girls (womenswork.org/girls). I'm an unapologetic idealist, hoping to advance ideas of individual-centric information sharing, "vendor relationship" management, and "single payer" health care.

Hi all,

I'm an editor with Manning Publications (http://www.manning.com), a writer, photographer, web programmer, instructor (primarily database design these days), and probably a few other things I can't quite remember just now. I'm interested in technology and the future, film and literature, education (especially getting kids in Hawaii interested in tech careers), sustainable development, and basically anything that thoughtfully builds the future. I have no pets/spouse/offspring. I live in Honolulu.

Hello Ladies! Love the idea of this group! Thank you so much for the invite :)

I work as the VP of Customer Care at Superb Internet Corp (headquarters in Honolulu, HI). Essentially making sure all the customer-facing departments provide the highest level of service and customer care possible. I have extensive experience in technical support and customer service quality assurance, call center management, project management, as well as coaching and staff development. I have a degree in Civil Engineering, a Diploma of Technology Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, as well as numerous IT certificates (to name couple MCSE, CCNA, A++).

I joined the company nine years ago as a the front line technical support representative, and gradually worked my way up. It's been quite a journey (to say the least) and I'm only getting started ;-)

Aloha Ladies,

like most of you I have mainly had male colleagues throughout my tech-journey, and I appreciate this opportunity to connect with like-minded women :)

I am an interdisciplinary PhD candidate in Communication and Information Sciences at University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I also teach organizational communication with a focus on new communication tools and technologies. My research areas include socio-technical systems (aka social media), human computer interaction, computer mediated communication, computer supported collaborative learning, and virtual organizations.
For more than a decade I have been involved in most aspects of systems design, development, and evaluation; and I do consulting on technology and policy planning, design, implementation, and evaluation for communication, collaboration, and learning.

I live in Honolulu, but I'm originally from Norway. Hawaii is somewhat warmer ;)

Hey all, this is just an observation, but I noticed that in this small sample of women that we tend towards "planning" and "connecting". I wonder if this holds true for women in tech in general. What do you think?

Aloha!

I work Sys\Net Admin and Help Desk. I find solving problems extremely gratifying. The first quote I prefer to share is:

"For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three.
Alice Kahn "

But then - you were after INSPIRING!! - OK, how about this:
