Seriously looking at Dallas on top of Azure for the underpinnings of a startup idea I've been nurturing for about a year or so. Had considered EC2 also but have decided that I don't want to deal with the infrastructure at that level for this application. GAE isn't really appropriate for this application (for other reasons).

Curious if anyone has any thoughts on Azure/Dallas or experience with it. I haven't delved into the technical details yet as I'm a little focused on my upcoming mini-vacation to Kauai but my brain never really shuts off so.. From the PR material it looks pretty good if you're in the SOA structured data business.

Cool. I somehow had missed that MS was playing the cloud game, too. According to the site you can use Java? Seems interesting...wonder if there are any catches to that... :)

.NET, PHP (blech!), Java, Python & Ruby. Of course the emphasis for a lot of stuff will be .NET. I haven't personally tried the SDKs much (apart from briefly playing with .NET's) so I can't speak to them.

As far as I know there aren't significant catches really, they're just APIs for each language.

Like here's their eclipse bridge
